get to tier 4 of clan level and your almost 100% likely to get a fief if not already got one. Then you steamroll from there, with influence/sieges you lead/being a big clan within your kingdom etc. In my battanian campagin, I went from being a merc to having 1 town and 3 fiefs within 5 years. If you're set on being independent and forging your own kingdom the hard way, I'd suggest a very strong party of at least 200 men, and a decent roster of companion parties before attempting it. You can probably score a city and a castle before then, but keeping them will be the issue. #13.

Mercenary companies get paid 500-600 gold per influence. So if they are all winning battles you have to pay money for that. Or maybe you might decide you want to change the look of your companions, even buying all fresh t5 gear for 7 companions could run you over a million.
I almost always take Nevyansk first bc it's always low on troops but that area is ALWAYS infested with looters. I would take Oristocoris castle, it is easily defensible as it only has one way in or out. Both villages are close by. Easier from there to mount attacks to the Western Empire, Vlandia and Aserai. One of their cities to the very north-west of their starting territory is sorta isolated on it's own bit of land, with the only way to reach it being a narrow, often bandit-infested valley. Might be a good place to start. battania. rare archer, no horse archer, weak cavalry, means easier to beat in battles. their highland also easier to defend yea starting a kingdom is very stressful and often takes a few tries as people with send an army of 1400 to steamroll everything you own.
