There is no "dodge" button, there's rolling. Check your controls to see what the jump button is. While sprinting, press the jump button to jump. You HAVE to be sprinting. There is an enemy (actually a body) in a certain area that blocks a path, and the way to get past it is a jumping attack.

one shot back stab IS possible, and there are builds specificly to do this as back stabbing in this game is the lowest common denominator. It takes no skill and gives victory. I think the biggest non-cheating backstab I've ever seen was 1800 damage, so it's entirely possible they killed you in oneshot without cheating.
